Beach Fossils, "Careless" / by Lars Garvey Laing-Peterson

Apparently I was far more scatterbrained last week than I thought. Always great to feel totally out of the loop.

Last Thursday, Captured Tracks put up a brief interview with Dustin Payseur regarding Beach Fossils' upcoming album Clash the Truth, due out 19 February 2013. And a few days before Stereogum premiered the first single from the record, "Careless," along with a few key details about the upcoming release, namely that it was recorded by The Men’s Ben Greenberg and features an appearance by Blonde Redhead’s Kazu Makino, both of which are fantastic pieces of news which are equally matched by the quality of the lead single (available for free download here and also now on Spotify). And you can't really beat the Joy Division-esque cover for the single.

Hopefully there will be at least one more track released before February. While I have had no problem listening to "Careless" on repeat most of the morning, I'm not sure if even a song of this caliber will stand up to another two months of heavy rotation. In any case, "Careless" has me very excited for Clash the Truth.
